WALES · INTERNATIONAL · CLEAN TECHNOLOGY

Engineering for a sustainable future.

AJ DAVEY CLIMATE CHANGE INNOVATION DESIGNS LTD is a Wales-based engineering and clean-technology company exploring ambitious systems across clean energy, hydrogen, advanced water treatment, desalination and resource recovery.

Research concepts are presented with evidence-led boundaries where validation is still required.

RESEARCH PLATFORM

A new paradigm for sustainability.

Andrew John Davey’s research programme connects molecular-scale ideas with practical energy and environmental engineering. The original presentation frames three interconnected areas: carbon emissions, clean energy and advanced water purification.

RESEARCH CONTEXT · MOLECULAR MANIPULATION

From molecules to systems.

The central research framing is the exploration of methods for manipulating gaseous molecules and their bonds, alongside selective molecular-scale separation for environmental and energy applications.

01 · PROPOSED AREA

Clean energy systems

Exploring turbine, thermal and electrochemical architectures while keeping energy inputs, outputs and losses explicit.

02 · PROPOSED AREA

Advanced water treatment

Investigating membrane-based separation, desalination and integrated hydraulic energy recovery.

03 · PROPOSED AREA

Circular resource use

ENERGY CONCEPT · PROPOSED APPLICATION

Multi-purpose energy & water treatment turbine

Innovative turbine architecture by Andrew John Davey

The presentation proposes a turbine architecture combining water treatment, high-temperature processing and electricity generation. The concept explores the use of high-temperature conditions, including temperatures in the region of 3,000°C, alongside lower-temperature stages around 600°C to 1,000°C, to investigate the equilibrium and conversion of water into hydrogen.

WATER TECHNOLOGY · RESEARCH CONTEXT

Graphene-enhanced water purification & desalination.

The presentation combines nanoporous graphene, pressure-driven filtration and an energy-recovery turbine. Nanoporous graphene is a real research direction, but commercial deployment still involves significant materials and engineering challenges.

Pressure → selective membrane → freshwater + concentrated brine

Pressure-driven desalination is established technology. AJD’s proposed system combines it with a graphene membrane concept and energy recovery.

PROPOSED MECHANISM

Integrated flow architecture

The presentation pairs a graphene filtration layer with an Archimedes screw-style component. These mechanisms are described separately rather than attributing unsupported separation effects to the screw.

CIRCULAR DESIGN · PROPOSED APPLICATIONS

Recovery, reuse, and responsible engineering.

The original deck proposes recycling useful components. Those outcomes require chemical characterisation and process validation, so they remain potential pathways.

Carbon-containing products

Potential use depends on purity, chemistry, energy demand and lifecycle performance.

Nitrogen recovery

Conversion pathways and safety would need to be demonstrated.

Hydrogen pathways

Production requires an appropriate energy input and validated process.

AGRICULTURAL POTENTIAL · FUTURE TESTING

From recovered materials to useful resources.

Any real-world use would depend on the chemical form, purity, safety and agronomic performance of the final material.

Crop and soil illustration from the original AJD presentation

Soil enrichment

Potential use of appropriately processed recovered materials as soil amendments.

Crop productivity

Any yield benefit would need controlled trials, nutrient analysis and safety assessment.

Sustainable resource use

Prioritising measurable reuse and lifecycle performance over unsupported fertiliser claims.

THE OUTLOOK · FUTURE WORK

Ambition, with the physics left switched on.

The next step is validation through prototypes, measurements, energy balances, membrane testing, lifecycle analysis and independent review.

Reduced emissionsMeasure actual reductions rather than assuming them.
Clean energyTrace every energy input and output.
Water accessValidate flux, salt rejection and membrane lifetime.
Resource optimisationEvaluate recovery quality, safety and lifecycle impact.
